| ROOM WITH A FEW - NOVEMBER 1996 |
This exhibition proved to be an excellent combination of three
sculptors work. Each artist's work complemented each others, partly
I think due to the object based nature of the work but also our
different concerns about making sculpture brought together under
one roof to create an impressive, interactive and inspiring show.
Our different ideas, materials and colours seemed to work to the
benefit of each other. There was a lot of work on a human scale,
dealing with human issues, more so maybe than we at first expected.
For example Duncan Cameron's Self, Peter D'Allesandro's Pillow
and more obviously my standing figures. The show also benefited
from the different conceptual levels and I especially enjoyed
showing with Duncan and Pete because of this. The practicalities
of the show were also challenging but provided no great obstacles.

| I was very inspired by the opportunity
to show in the Leadworks - the rawness of the building, the light
and the quietness of it, the space enabled me to do some experimental
sketches in sculpture as part of the work, which was a fast free way
of creating I had never used before, commercial galleries can often
be very stifling for me. I showed seven life-size pieces, twenty one
varying sized pieces and nineteen A1 drawings. |
