My first Open Studios at Paintworks will take place in my studio, Unit 5.2 but will also spill over into the soon to be, Bristol Drawing School in 5.3 . This is an exciting new project that I am involved in setting up; a space dedicated to promoting the importance of drawing.

In both spaces I will be showing sculptures from life-size to very small, life drawings, some paintings and prints, I also have some new bronzes. Some pieces will be in progress so you will be able to see a bit of the process.

Drawing is an integral part of the process of my work. I draw the figure to familiarise myself with the human form; without constantly referencing, analyzing and being inspired by the lines and forms of the human figure I can not make sculpture intuitively or satisfactorily. Drawing makes the creative process of working with clay more fluid, gives me confidence that the imagined form in front of me is ok.
